Description
Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, located in Fatehgarh Sahib, is a significant endeavor undertaken by the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee). This institution is driven by a missionary, charitable, and humanitarian spirit, aiming to provide inclusive education to students from diverse backgrounds, irrespective of their creed, caste, or religion.
The vision for establishing this university was articulated by Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, the former Chief Minister, during the fourth centenary celebrations of the installation of Sri Adi Granth at the Golden Temple. He expressed the aspiration to create a university dedicated to the principles enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. This dream materialized when the Punjab Legislative Assembly passed the Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Act (Punjab State Act 20/2008). Consequently, SGGSWU commenced its inaugural academic session in July 2011.
