B.L.D.E.

BLDE (Deemed to be University) was established on February 29, 2008, with the primary aim of delivering high-quality medical education and addressing the healthcare needs of the underserved North Karnataka region. The university's sole constituent college, Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, was founded in 1986 and occupies a unified campus spanning 71.2 acres. It boasts 24 departments and a teaching hospital equipped with 1218 beds.

Accredited with an 'A' Grade by NAAC (Cycle-2) with a CGPA of 3.09, BLDE (Deemed to be University) has also received recognition in the 'ATAL Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements' by the Innovation Cell, Government of India. The teaching hospital holds accreditation from NABH at the entry level.

In the NIRF-2021 rankings, Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, the Constituent College of BLDE (Deemed to be University), secured a position among the top 50 medical colleges in India.

Shri B. M. Patil Medical College offers a range of programs, including an undergraduate program (MBBS with an intake of 200 students), postgraduate programs in 24 disciplines, PG Super Specialty Programs in Urology (M.Ch.), and Cardiology (DM) (with an intake of 151). Additionally, the college provides a Ph.D. program in 22 disciplines and innovative courses such as fellowships, diplomas, certificate courses, and value-added courses in medical and allied sciences.

Thanks to the support of the Sponsoring Society, the Constituent College has expanded its infrastructure. The existing hospital building now includes a third floor, and new facilities such as modular operation theaters, ICCU, CCU, NICU, DSA, etc., have been established. Moreover, the departmental buildings for Biochemistry, Anatomy, Microbiology, and Physiology have undergone expansion, and their facilities have been upgraded.
